Project Title: Post Impact Assessment (PIA) for the Gurara Multi-Purpose Dam

 

Project Description: The project entailed the preparation of PIA for the Gurara Multi-Purpose Dam facilities consisting of Gurara Dam, 30MW Hydroelectric Power Plant, 6,000 Hectares Irrigation Farmland and 75km long Water Supply Pipeline conveying water from Gurara Dam to Lower Usuma Dam in the FCT. The PIA study was carried out to establish environmental and socioeconomic consequences of construction as well as the potential impacts likely to arise from normal operations and maintenance of the facilities over a period of time. An ESMP was developed for the implementation of proposed remediation/mitigation measures that will ensure environmental sustainability of the project.
